Activites in Chase County
prairie   Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve - Locatedj ust two miles north of Strong City, the park offers several hiking trials, tours of the historic 1881 limestone ranch house, and a new resource center / bookstore, located in the newly restored two story stone barn.
We enjoy afternoon walks in the park. The magnificent views are a photographer's dream. While there be sure to also check out the one room limestone schoolhouse located on the hill just south of the visitor's center.
Chase County Courthouse - Located in Cottonwood Falls, the courthouse is the oldest working courthouse still in use in Kansas and the midwestern states. The building was completed in 1873 using native limestone and walnut. Designed in the renaissance style architecture of the Louis XIII period, the courthouse features a mansard tile roof and three story, walnut spiral staircase. Unfortunately the courthouse is currently closed for renovation and is scheduled to reopen in 2008.
