Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve - Locatedj ust two miles north of Strong
City, the park offers several hiking trials, tours of the historic 1881
limestone ranch house, and a new resource center / bookstore, located in
the newly restored two story stone barn. |
We enjoy afternoon walks in the
park. The magnificent views are a photographer's dream. While there be sure
to also check out the one room limestone schoolhouse located on the hill
just south of the visitor's center.

Chase County Courthouse - Located in Cottonwood Falls,
the courthouse is the oldest working courthouse still in use in Kansas and
the midwestern states. The building was completed in 1873 using native limestone
and walnut. Designed in the renaissance style architecture of the Louis
XIII period, the courthouse features a mansard tile roof and three story,
walnut spiral staircase. Unfortunately the courthouse is currently closed for renovation and is scheduled to reopen in 2008. To learn more about Chase County and see a pictures of the

Flint Hills Rodeo - The Flint Hills Rodeo Grounds, just across the road from the us, hosts three
annual rodeo events. The 68th annual PRCA
Rodeo will be held on June 3 - 5. A Ranch
Rodeo and Youth
Rodeo are held in September and October. |

Trail Rides in the Flint Hills - Kansas Flint Hills adventures offers horseback riding in the tallgrass
prairie, range burning parties, and personalized ranch gatherings. Jan Jantzen
has an extensive knowledge of the history of the Flint Hills and the ecology
of the tallgrass prairie. We took some friends from Chicago out to Jan's
Grandview Ranch last summer and had a great time capped off with a magnificent
prairie sunset. |
The Emma Chase
Cafe - not only does the Emma Chase have great food, free music, and
decadent fudge, they also have all sorts of hand made items that make great
gifts or souvenirs. They also serve ice cream until 9 p.m. |

Cottonwood
Falls Mercantile offers a variety of scrumptious candies and gourmet
foods. They also have great gifts including antiques, collectables, art,
and photography. Proptietor Jim Zeiner is the publisher of the Kansas Angler
and carries a variety of new and antique fishing tackle. |
Flint
Hills Scenic Byway - A beautiful drive stretching 47 miles through the
heart of the Flint Hills from Council Grove to Cassoday. |
